Justine and Wissam, owners of Chalet Nimisa in Méribel-Mottaret
Méribel has always been a family story for us. Justine’s parents have owned property in the resort since 1985, and we spent all our holidays here, winter and summer, long before we started renting out the chalet. Since 2020, we have been welcoming other families to this duplex we know inside out.
An apartment designed for families
We have three children, so the apartment is set up the way we like to live in it ourselves. 5 real bedrooms and 10 real beds, with no sofa beds or mezzanine, so everyone has their own space. A high chair, games, toys and books for the children, a large table to get together in the evening, and a fully equipped kitchen with raclette machines for big family meals.
Everything is organised to make your holiday easier: bed linen provided, cleaning and tourist tax included, a private ski locker, covered parking, and the slopes just 3 minutes away on skis.
Our tips for enjoying Mottaret as a family
Lake Tuéda, 140 m from the chalet, is our favourite walk with the children. In winter you can go cross-country skiing or pull the kids on a sledge among the Swiss stone pines. The Tuéda Nature Reserve House, on the lakeshore, runs activities about the wildlife and plants of the Vanoise; check its opening hours, which change during school holidays.
On bad-weather days, head to Méribel’s Olympic Park: swimming pool, ice rink, climbing wall and bowling. The free Méribus shuttles take you there from Mottaret.
For little ones, the French Ski School (ESF) and the kindergarten are a few minutes from the chalet. Book lessons early for the February holidays.
In spring, as the snow melts, look out for marmots waking up from hibernation around the reserve.
